Greenwood hires Daniel Johnston as City Engineer
HNTB project manager brings 17 years of experience to position

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The City of Greenwood announced today the hiring of former HNTB project manager Daniel Johnston as the city’s new engineer and director of community development services.

In his new role, Johnston will build upon more than 17 years of experience working on federally funded transportation projects to oversee the administration and operation of the city’s Department of Community Development Services. Johnston will be responsible for planning, designing and monitoring Greenwood’s infrastructure, as well as directing the inspection and oversight of city construction projects.

“Working with the City of Greenwood presents me with the opportunity to broaden my expertise while making a positive impact on the community,” said Johnston. “Greenwood has several exciting projects on the horizon, and I hope to help the city continue to grow for many years to come.”

Johnston first joined HNTB as an engineer in 2007 before taking a year-long leave of absence to serve overseas with the Texas Army National Guard. He was most recently promoted to a project manager role at HNTB, where he supervised the preparation of roadway and highway design plans.

Johnston received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1998.

“Daniel has the experience and skills to be a valuable leader in the Greenwood community,” said Mayor Mark W. Myers. “He is a determined individual who is willing to go above and beyond what is expected of him, and we’re fortunate to have him in this important role.”
