Our first spring planting project involves a partnership between DNR Fish and Wildlife along with DNR Community and Urban Forestry and the Greenwood Stormwater Department to naturalize the retention pond on Worthsville Road (located South of Worthsville Road and West of I-65).
Volunteers will learn how to properly plant trees as well as get a broader look into the benefits native plants provide in the urban landscape. An ISA Certified Arborist will be on site to help lead the planting project. Oh, and you will have a great time getting outside and working with community neighbors!
Volunteers are asked to come dressed for the weather including closed toe shoes, work gloves and are encouraged to bring their favorite shovel/spade tools for the job. We also encourage attendees to bring water. We will have a water cooler on site but ask that attendees bring reusable bottles to refill. Restrooms will be on your own.
Other planting opportunities on Worthsville Road are available. Click on the VOLUNTEER link for details.
