Greenwood Municipal Airport Open House back
Date of Record: September 30, 2006

On Saturday September 30, 2006, Mayor Henderson attended the open house festivities at the Greenwood Municipal Airport.  During his visit, the Mayor presented a Certificate of Recognition to retired USAF Colonel James H. Kasler.  Colonel Kasler's career as a pilot spanned more than thirty years during which time he fought in three wars - WWII, Korean and Vietnam - and received the Air Force Cross three times for heroism in combat. In addition to his commendations and being a wartime hero, Colonel Kasler, in his infinite wisdom, chose Greenwood as the home of the Civil Air Patrol which is currently hangared at the Greenwood Municipal Airport.
