Greenwood's Parks and Recreation Department to host inaugural Pickleball Open

GREENWOOD, Ind. — Greenwood’s Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Rest and Restore Ministries to host the first-ever Greenwood Pickleball Open next Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. until noon at Craig Park. Tickets are $20 a person, and the first fifty individuals to sign up will receive a branded drawstring bag and a commemorative event t-shirt.

“Pickleball has become extremely popular, both in our community and across the country,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “Our Parks and Recreation Department recognized an opportunity to harness the sport’s growing popularity by hosting an annual event. We’re anticipating a great response and fun event for all participants.”

The event will take place on nine pickleball courts and include a Round Robin style tournament with both Beginner and Advance brackets.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Rest and Restore Ministries as well as improvements to pickleball amenities within Craig Park.

The winning teams for each division will receive a commemorative trophy along with gift cards for $100. The second-place winners will also receive a commemorative trophy and gift cards worth $50.
