Greenwood Parks & Recreation has a variety of ways for your children to explore and express their passions.

Single-Day Art Programs

Calling all little artists! It’s time to have fun creating a variety of artwork! Children will use different mediums, including watercolor, papercraft and more to create fun art pieces! Your child may want to bring a water bottle and an apron with them.

When: Stay tuned for additional upcoming dates.

Where: Greenwood Community Center

Fee: $20 per child

Participants: Youth ages 5-10

Class is limited to the first 10 registrants. Don’t delay!

NERF on the Turf

The ultimate NERF battle! We transform the indoor turf at the Greenwood Fieldhouse into an arena for kids to battle and play fun, competitive games. Competitors must provide their own NERF blasters (no automatic); eye protection will be provided. We will provide all NERF ELITE darts. NERF blasters must use ELITE darts only, no MEGA or RIVAL rounds. Multiple-shot NERF guns are recommended. No NERF bows/arrows are allowed. Our staff will be on hand to referee and supervise the games. Preregistration and waiver required.

Fee: $10 per child

Participants: Youth ages 6-10 and 11-16

Fencing

En garde! Have you ever wanted to try your hand with a sword? Here’s your opportunity with this exciting new program. Students will learn the basics of fencing: footwork, blade work, rules and tactics, as well as participating in fun fencing games. This class is taught by Anthony Joslin, a trainer of the 2013 U.S. Youth National Champion. Rent the necessary protective gear (headpiece, chestpiece and gloves) for just $20 per session.

When: Thursday 6:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Where: Greenwood Fieldhouse

Fee: $60 per four-week session, plus $20 equipment rental fee

Participants: Youth ages 6-12; youth at least 13 and adults

Backyard Bass Class

Join Clint Kowalik of Go Fishin with Clint and learn how to tie a fishing knot, rig up a rod, and cast for Backyard Bass. You’ll also identify fish that swim in our local waters and learn how to safely handle them. The class will be indoors

Code Ninjas

Join us for Code Ninjas! Greenwood Parks and Recreation has partnered with Code Ninjas for coding and robotics classes. Transform your child's love for technology into an exciting learning adventure!

When: 2nd and 4th Monday of each month; 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Where: Greenwood Community Center

Fee: $35 for 1 class, $60 for both classes

Participants: Youth ages 8-14
