Smith Valley Road – Segment 1
The City of Greenwood is working on designs for phase one of improvements on Smith Valley Road from Woodmen Boulevard to west of U.S. Highway 31 near Executive Park Drive. Tentative bid date is fall of 2027, with construction beginning early 2028.
PRELIMINARY ONLY – SUBJECT TO MODIFICATIONS.
Segment 1 of Smith Valley Road will include:
- Widened to 4 lanes with a bi-directional center left turn lane
- Pathways along both sides
- Improved roadway drainage and storm sewer improvements
- Decorative lighting similar to roundabouts to the west
- Right-of- way acquisition to start later this summer 2026
- Delays may arise for bidding and construction, such as right-of-way acquisition and utility relocations.

The City of Greenwood is working on designs for phase two of improvements on Smith Valley Road from Meridian Street to Valley Oaks Road. Tentative bid date is fall of 2028, with construction beginning early 2029.
PRELIMINARY ONLY – SUBJECT TO MODIFICATIONS.
Segment 2 of Smith Valley Road will include:
- Divided 4 lane roadway with turn lanes at north/south cross streets
- Improved roadway drainage and storm sewer improvements
- Reconstructed pathway along the north side
- Decorative lighting similar to lighting that is being proposed west of U.S. Highway 31
- Contract being negotiated at this time for survey, design, utility coordination, etc. with design to start later this summer
Delays may arise for bidding and construction, such as right-of-way acquisition and utility relocations.
