ERMCO to relocate headquarters to Greenwood

Electrical technology corporation to invest $18 million, relocate 150 jobs and hire 20 additional employees

GREENWOOD, Ind. – ERMCO, Inc., one of the top electrical, systems and automation contractors in the U.S., is moving its headquarters to Greenwood.

In a presentation before the Greenwood Redevelopment Commission (RDC) today, the company announced plans to build a 205,220 square-foot facility, including 63,240 square feet of office space and 141,980 square feet shop facility, on a 11.5-acre lot at the northwest corner of Main Street and Graham Road.

ERMCO, which plans to relocate 150 jobs from their existing Indianapolis location and add 20 additional employees to its Greenwood headquarters location, will provide an average pay of $70,000 per year, or $33.65 per hour.

Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers welcomed the ERMCO announcement as another example of Greenwood’s economic development progress.

“We are proud to collaborate with ERMCO as they relocate their headquarters to Greenwood,” said Myers. “ERMCO has a long-standing history of success with businesses throughout the Hoosier state, and we look forward to sharing a continued path of growth.”

RDC approval is the first step in a multi-step process. The Greenwood Common Council will be next to review and vote on a tax abatement for the project.

Greg Gossett, ERMCO President and CEO expressed his company’s excitement about the move after RDC approval.

“We are thrilled to announce our relocation plans and are thankful to have worked with Mayor Myers, his team and the Redevelopment Commission to secure an optimal headquarters location,” said Gossett. “We look forward to working with local organizations to advance electrical and automation technology throughout central Indiana.”

ERMCO’s current corporate headquarters is in Indianapolis, at 1625 W. Thompson Road. Construction of the Greenwood headquarters is expected to begin fall of 2021 and be completed in fall 2022.

In addition to its work in Indiana, ERMCO has completed several major projects across the country including the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and Urenco USA uranium enrichment plant in Eunice, New Mexico.
