GREENWOOD, Ind. – Freedom Springs Aquatic Center had another successful summer. Since opening in early June, the facility welcomed more than 106,000 guests and hosted  events and programs to help residents and non-residents cool off during the hot summer months.

“Freedom Springs is a great amenity for our city,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “All season long we saw people of all ages enjoy Freedom Springs. It is clear, according to these incredible numbers, that our residents want and appreciate what we are doing in Greenwood!”

Building on the success of its summer events, Freedom Springs hosted over 2,000 guests across three Adult Nights, for those ages 21+ featuring live music and food and drinks from local restaurants and wineries, including Oaken Barrel and Mallow Run.

Swimming lessons also kept Freedom Springs staff busy, with roughly 400 children and adults participating. The facility offered traditional swimming lessons in addition to SCUBA, Junior Lifeguarding, Mommy n’ Me and private sessions.

“From day one until the last guest left the facility, our staff worked diligently to make this season a success,” said Greenwood Parks and Recreation Director Rob Taggart. “Freedom Springs remained fully staffed all summer, with lifeguards already committing to the 2023 season.”

Freedom Springs opened in 2016 and almost immediately became self-sustaining, returning revenue to Greenwood’s parks through annual memberships, Splash Card and day pass purchases, special event ticket sales, programming fees, rentals, partnerships and concessions.

To close out the season, Freedom Springs held its annual Puppy POOLooza, welcoming nearly 400 dogs into the facility.
