GREENWOOD, Ind. – Last night, the City of Greenwood paved the way for the growth and expansion of VisionQuest Eyecare. With full support from Mayor Mark W. Myers, the Greenwood Common Council unanimously approved the creation of an economic revitalization area and real property tax abatement for the local optometry business.
“Greenwood has a robust economy because we are a community that supports a diverse set of businesses, both small and large,” said Mayor Myers. “The infrastructure, amenities, tax rate and quality of life are just a few of the many reasons businesses choose Greenwood, and I’m happy that VisionQuest benefited from these offerings.”
VisionQuest plans to invest $2.83 million to build a new 9,600-square-foot facility on State Road 135 just south of Stones Crossing Road. The business currently employs more than 25 people and plans to add an additional six positions, averaging a salary of $70,000 per year, when the new site opens.
In addition to general eye care, VisionQuest provides cutting-edge services treating a wide range of vision-related conditions. “We’ve had great success since moving our business to Greenwood about ten years ago,” said Dr. Christopher Browning, Doctor of Optometry at VisionQuest. “Establishing and growing our business in Greenwood has been a dream and I appreciate the city’s focus on supporting small businesses. The community has been wonderful to us, and I look forward to future growth opportunities here.”
