The City of Greenwood, IN

Welcome to the website for the City of Greenwood!

The Greenwood Parks and Recreation team will host GLOW, a pre-eclipse event this Sunday, April 7 from 5 – 9 p.m. at Craig Park. This celebration is free to the public and will bring together live music, food and drinks as well as glowing hot air balloon rides to gear up for the solar eclipse the next day.

Attendees will enjoy performances by My Yellow Rickshaw and Tastes Like Chicken. A variety of food will be available along with beverages on the Event Lawn at Craig Park.

“This eclipse is truly a unique experience for Greenwood residents and those visiting,” said Greenwood Parks & Recreation Executive Director Rob Taggart. “I am proud of the team for putting together this event to showcase great fun right here in the City of Greenwood.”

Event goers can pre-register for tethered hot air ballon rides by reaching out to the Parks and Recreation team. Riders will see Greenwood from a new angle alongside the other glowing hot air ballons as day turns to night. Hot air balloon rides are weather dependent. Be sure to follow the Greenwood Parks and Recreation Facebook page for event updates.

Johnson County will experience the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8 as daytime will turn into night due to the eclipse for almost four minutes. The City of Greenwood encourages residents to plan for this rare opportunity by viewing the eclipse from optimal locations within the community.

Viewing locations, parking details and trails for easy travel are available on the city’s website, visit greenwood.in.gov.
