The Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department has announced the youth league partnerships that will assist with tournaments at the Sports Park opening this fall. PlayGMB will facilitate baseball tournaments while Fastpitch Turf, the GMB Fastpitch Division, will oversee Triple Crown Series sanctioned softball events.
“Greenwood is excited to partner with GMB to provide quality tournament programming for our local youth teams and visitors we host at our new facility,” said Rob Taggart, executive director of Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department. “GMB has proven themselves as leaders in the industry by supplying onsite support with tournament coordination and customer service for local and visiting teams.”
GMB has an extensive history in putting on world class tournaments for AAA/Major and A/AA levels of play in the region since 2010. Today, there are over 5,000 teams playing throughout the GMB territory including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Youth baseball teams ages 14 and younger are now eligible to register for tournaments starting this fall at the Greenwood Sports Park.
“We look forward to working with the City of Greenwood to bring elite baseball and softball opportunities to the community,” said Eric Hooper, founder and owner of GMB. “This new amenity will allow us to increase the level of play within the region.”
GMB will support the leagues at the Greenwood Sports Park by assisting with hotel accommodations, extracurriculars for visiting teams and game scheduling as well as awards and umpire coordination. Each tournament will end with naming a championship team who will take home an award.
Fastpitch Turf is excited to bring the Triple Crown Series Fastpitch Softball brand to the Greenwood Sports Park. Triple Crown Fastpitch is the pinnacle of premier fastpitch experiences with over 100 events across the nation. Softball teams should visit the Fastpitch Turf website to register for the upcoming season.
The city is pleased to share that baseball and softball tournaments for the fall 2024 season at the Greenwood Sports Park are available for registration. Teams can now visit playgmb.com and www.fastpitchturf.com to sign up today.
