GREENWOOD, Ind. – The City of Greenwood celebrated another successful opening week for its popular Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, which officially opened its doors for the 2022 season on May 28.
“It’s not summertime in Greenwood without Freedom Springs,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “Last year we welcomed more than 115,000 people to Freedom Springs and I hope this year we top that mark.”
The facility welcomed approximately eleven-thousand guests from May 28 through June 5 and sold over two-thousand season passes to residents and non-residents.
Guests have also already begun purchasing tickets for this year’s adult only nights; the Greenwood Parks & Recreation Department, which operates Freedom Springs, plans to host three adult-nights in addition to its other family-friendly events.
Scheduled events include:
Freedom Springs opened in 2016 and almost immediately became self-sustaining, returning revenue back into Greenwood’s parks through annual membership, Splash Card and day pass purchases, special event ticket sales, programming, rentals, partnerships, and concessions. Since 2018, Freedom Springs has generated upwards of $1 million per season. Since May 28, the facility has already generated nearly $400 thousand in revenue.
Season passes are currently being sold at the Greenwood Community Center, Greenwood Fieldhouse and Freedom Springs. The 2022 season is scheduled to run through Monday, Sept. 5.
