The City of Greenwood, IN

Welcome to the website for the City of Greenwood!

GREENWOOD, Ind. –The City of Greenwood is proposing to adopt a new zoning code and is asking for public input during a community open house from 3 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8. The open house, scheduled to take place at the Greenwood Amphitheater, is a time for residents to review and discuss the new plan with city officials.

The new zoning code – which has not been updated in nearly 40 years – proposes a more efficient and user-friendly land use and development process.

“It is important we properly engage residents and give them the opportunity to ask city employees specific questions about this plan,” said Mayor Mark W. Myers. “We will give all feedback and input thorough consideration as this code will be the ultimate guide for regulating existing and future development throughout the city.”

During the open house, the draft ordinance will be available for review, and city employees will be stationed at educational tables discussing details related to residential, commercial, technical aspects, legal, city projects and economic development initiatives.

A virtual webinar of the open house covering these topics will be uploaded to the city website shortly after the in-person event. Citizens may provide input via the website as well: https://www.greenwood.in.gov/egov/apps/action/center.egov?view=form;page=1;id=13.

Following public review and input, the ordinance will be presented for consideration and approval by the Greenwood Advisory Plan Commission and Greenwood Common Council.

The Greenwood Planning Division regulates and assists businesses in various improvement and development areas, including land use, zoning, site plan review and construction. The official zoning map is on file at the Planning Division.
